On the 15th of February 2022, we made an Freedom of Information request to North Yorkshire Police regarding their success rates in sexual abuse cases against children.
How many reports of rape and child sexual abuse and how many prosecutions during the following years,
1. 2013-2014
2. 2014-2015
3. 2016-2017
4. 2017-2018
5. 2019-2020
6. 2020-2021
Thank you.
on 15th March 2022 we recieved a reply (over their 30 day response period).
You can see from the response that the North Yorkshire Police that they could not fulfil the request as obtaining information they should be collecting as part of their duties "would cost too much".
on the 15th of March we responded with a complaint against the descion as this information should be too hand.
North Yorkshire Police accepted the complaint
We forwarded a complaint to the Police and Fire Commissioners office,
to which we recieived this disconserting response.
Zoe Metcalfes current term of office is about is:
"Commissioner welcomes Chief Constable’s commitment to child protection in North Yorkshire at Public Accountability Meeting"
"Commissioner Zoe welcomes funding applications to support victims and survivors of domestic or sexual abuse…"
Is this the case?
